Our Design Process

At Computers In Design Inc. we believe that:

  • good web site design should support the user experience and the firm's goals
  • your web site should convey your design esthetic as completely as your presentation materials currently do

We structure our design approach around a careful, custom analysis of your needs.

  • We begin with a needs assessment session: a structured interview during which we meet with you and ask you to answer certain questions so that we can understand why you want to build or rebuild your web site; what goals you are trying to achieve through this process; and who you believe your audience is.

  • We look at examples of your design esthetic, your current identity graphics (logos in use, letterhead, etc.) and at web sites which you like and which you dislike.

  • We also identify at this time any special interactive or multimedia features that your site will need, such as forms, surveys, mailing lists, bulletin boards, e-commerce features, portfolio databases, animations, or real time 3D interactivity.

  • Once we have a clear picture of your needs and how they influence the scope of the project, we will prepare a 'creative brief' which outlines your proposed site's goals, audience, and describes the site structure and technology.

This document will serve as the planning blueprint for the project, and will be updated as the site design and content creation moves forward. The creative brief, site mockups, development site and all design documentation will be available for your review at all times on our password protected Client Extranet.

At every development stage we confer with you on the evolution of the project.

Simple web sites usually require no more than two meetings, with an additional meeting focusing on your portfolio display. Larger, and more complex projects, or projects in which we are more deeply involved in the content creation, will often require more meetings.
